Our Junior and Senior High youth participate in a wide number of events throughout the year that allow them to deepen faith and friendships, connect to a wide number of adults in the church, and help deepen their commitment to service and community.  The trips and events scheduled for this year include:

Sports Nights:  During the summer months, our Youth help to coordinate and to lead several Sports Nights at the park adjoining the church.  These events are open to all children in the congregation and the nearby community and provide a wonderful opportunity for church members and nearby youth to have fun and get to know each other.

High School Mission Trip to Quad Cities, Illinois/Iowa

July 20-25, 2008

Ten of our high school youth along with two adults will be heading to the urban area of the Quad Cities for a mission immersion experience. Living in modest conditions, the youth will provide Kids Club for children and do service projects that enhance the community.

There are countless physical and spiritual needs in communities today – in your own backyard, across the country, in big cities, in small towns and across borders. Short term missions are a means to visualize needs in other communities and bring that recognition back to serve in your own home. After a week spent in service, you will leave transformed by the love, strength and resilience you find in those you meet.

The cost is $300 per person. We will leave at 9:30 am on Sunday, July 20 and return to Oak Knoll around 3:00 pm on Friday, July 25.

  Boundary Waters Canoe Trip Wilderness Canoe Base

July 26-August 1, 2008

Dave Sanderson is heading up a three groups(21 youth and 3 adults) of canoeists. This is a 28 year tradition at Oak Knoll Lutheran and you won’t want to miss it. Wilderness canoe trips are an incredible journey, an opportunity to learn and reflect on God’s creation, strengthen faith, build teamwork and come away with a better understanding of how precious the world is.

The cost is $400 per person. We will leave Oak Knoll at 5:30 am on Saturday, July 26 and return around 8:30 pm on Friday, August 1.
