Our Junior and Senior High youth participate in a wide number of events throughout the year that allow them to deepen faith and friendships, connect to a wide number of adults in the church, and help deepen their commitment to service and community. The trips and events scheduled for this year include:
Sports Nights: During the summer months, our Youth help to coordinate and to lead several Sports Nights at the park adjoining the church. These events are open to all children in the congregation and the nearby community and provide a wonderful opportunity for church members and nearby youth to have fun and get to know each other.

Summer Impact Events
Each summer we send youth to:
-the Wilderness Canoe Base in the Boundary Waters,
· -a mission trip to various venues around the country, and
· -the National Lutheran Youth Gathering (every third year).
Our youth tell us these experiences are highlights in their journey toward faith in God. There are many stories of how these events have changed lives.
Wilderness Canoe Base is the site from which our 9-12th graders canoe away on a journey through the wilderness to nurture a Christ-centered identity. On our staff we have Pastor Jedidiah, who is the director of this program and helps our youth make the connection of their wilderness experience to their life of faith.
Mission Trips are one of the foundational experiences we offer our youth to learn what it means to “serve our neighbors.” Each summer we choose a destination and then travel as a group to learn, to serve, to pray, to build relationships and to work together as followers of Jesus.
Amity Club
is a service project of our high school youth that meets on Sundays during the school year to provide a safe, fun gathering for elementary age children in our neighborhood. Our high school youth befriend the children through play, arts and crafts, and time together.
If you have questions about these programs, contact Stephanie Friesen in the church office.
NATIONAL YOUTH GATHERING
July 22-26, 2009
In addition to our regular summer trips to camp and the boundary waters in 2009, we are beginning to plan for a trip to New Orleans – the site of the 2009 ELCA National Youth Gathering. We are hoping to take 12 to 15 high schoolers from Oak Knoll to New Orleans to experience Jesus Justice and Jazz . Our three full days in New Orleans will be focused on mission work, understanding our Lutheran faith and having fun. Watch for more information and fundraising opportunities in the weeks to come.
